2022 Jeep Wrangler Pickup Diesel, Specs, & Photos. The legendary SUV has recently come in the form of pickup, known as the Gladiator. Still, we like to call it Wrangler Pickup, as the relationship between the two models is extremely close. The new model has been presented last year, but it looks the company already prepares some interesting novelties. According to the latest reports, the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Pickup is about to come with a new powertrain option, with an optional oil-burner. It was expected that the diesel version will remain exclusive for the European market, but the latest reports suggest we will see it in North America. We will see pretty much the same specs.
Other than the new engine, things should remain pretty much the same. The 2022 Jeep Wrangler Pickup is expected to carry on with the same design and features, though there is always a chance to see some novelties in terms of standard equipment. We expect to see a new model late in the year.
2022 Jeep Wrangler Pickup Design
When it comes to base design characteristics, things definitely won’t change. We are about to see the same Wrangler-based design, which is enhanced by a stretched wheelbase and slight suspension tweaks. The wheelbase is notably longer, which leaves enough space for both a spacious cabin and decent cargo bed size. In terms of the styling, things are pretty familiar, as you may count on the authentic Wrangler look, at least at the front end. the rest of the body comes in a typical pickup layout, while a crew cab layout is the only body style in the offer.
As we’ve just mentioned, a crew cab style is the only version in the offer and a great thing to know is that the truck offers two pretty generous rows of seats. This is arguably the most comfortable cabin among mid-size pickups, while we also like dashboard design. It is practically the same as in the SUV sibling, which means a nice combination of style and durability. The overall impression is pretty good, while adventurous drivers will definitely like the ability to take off the roof and doors. The only thing we don’t particularly like is that the base model isn’t very generous in terms of standard equipment, but more about this in the next paragraph.
When it comes to standard equipment, we might see a couple of novelties for the next year. Most of the things are expected to remain the same. Expect that base models will come standard with goodies like a 5-inch touchscreen, eight-speaker audio system, two USB ports, and Bluetooth. There is much more in higher trims, where you can get bigger 7- or 8.4-inch touchscreen, premium Alpine audio system, satellite radio, navigation (included with the 8.4-inch screen), a removable Bluetooth wireless speaker, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and many more.
When it comes to safety features, a rearview camera is the only thing that is on the list of standard equipment. On the other side, higher trims offer many upgrades, including advanced systems like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.
2022 Jeep Wrangler Pickup Engines
There is no doubt that the biggest novelty for the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Pickup will come under the hood. We are about to see a diesel version of the new truck and we already know the specs. Of course, things are pretty familiar, as the new model is about to use the same engine as the current-generation Grand Cherokee. This would mean a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel, which is good for about 240 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. As you may presume, the obvious advantage of this engine will be fuel economy. Usually, diesel engines are also more capable in terms of towing. That won’t be the case, as the max towing capacity will be slightly lower compared to the gasoline model. We still don’t know the exact reason for such ratings.
On the other side, the gasoline model is about to carry on in the same way. Count on a familiar 3.6-liter V6 unit, which is good for about 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. With such numbers, you may count on pretty strong acceleration numbers, while the max towing capacity is also a pretty high level and goes around 7.500 pounds. One of the things we like about this model is that both automatic and manual transmissions in the offer.
2022 Jeep Wrangler Pickup Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2022 Jeep Wrangler Pickup sometime late in the year, despite that the new diesel version is on the way. The price should also remain largely the same, at least when it comes to base models, which currently start at around 33.500 dollars.
